George Roberts

George Roberts started his career in New York City with BRV, where he managed the design, build, programming, redevelopment, and operation of parks and public spaces across North America.

He then returned to his hometown of Detroit, Michigan to become the Director of Public Spaces at the Quicken Loans Community Fund.  In this role, George led the activation of Cadillac Square and the creation of The Woodward Esplanade. He also played a key role in the creation of Spirit of Detroit Plaza, the redevelopment of Capitol Park, and support of community projects in neighborhood parks.

George is currently the co-founder and managing principal of Civic Companies, a Detroit-based real estate development company focused on community-oriented, mixed-use projects in Detroit neighborhoods.

As a consultant to BRV now, George specializes in developing creative ideas for community programming and amenities and working with designers to bring these ideas to life. He also offers the perspective of a former philanthropic funder and a public space-oriented real estate developer. 

George holds a BA in Urban and Metropolitan Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan.
