In 2024-2025, BRV was part of a team headed by Dig Studio and Lake Flato and hired by the City of Chandler to redevelop the dated but central gathering place of downtown Chandler, named for the founder of the city himself.

The City of Chandler wished to modernize the design and the aging physical infrastructure of Dr A.J. Chandler Park to better support the surrounding downtown business district on a daily basis, as well as the large city events that frequently use the space. 

BRV’s focus was to create a proposed calendar of free programming and events for the park, and also to consult on the design concepts and prioritization of physical features in the space so that it is functional, sensible, attractive, and successful for generations to come. BRV provided extensive design review services throughout the entire design process, sitting at the elbow of the design team while they worked through the conceptual, schematic, and final design of the new park. This is important because seemingly small design decisions, if left unchecked, can lead to big operational headaches down the road. The close partnership of Dig Studio, Lake Flato, and BRV on this project allowed the opportunity to closely integrate form and function. By allowing management concerns to influence design, and vice versa, the newly redeveloped Dr A.J. Chandler Park will be beautiful, fun, and most importantly manageable in the long-term. The first major phase of the redevelopment is expected to open to the public in 2027.
