Church Street Park is a small pocket park in downtown Nashville. Neglected for many years and the subject of contentious political debate, BRV was tasked with bringing the park back to life to make it a safe and attractive destination for residents and visitors.
In 2019, BRV conferred with stakeholders and community members to determine what the public would enjoy experiencing in this urban park. BRV created a vision for the future of the space and developed a programming plan, governance model, and operating budgets for the park. Working with a local public affairs firm, BRV helped guide the vision through several approvals, ultimately winning the support of the Mayor’s Office.
BRV began a second phase of work in 2020 which involved overseeing physical renovations, developing a new park identity, and sourcing new furnishings and equipment to make the space more inviting.
The new and improved Church Street Park reopened in June 2021 to critical acclaim with a full slate of free summer programming. BRV oversaw all operations and programming of the park in cooperation with the Metro Nashville Parks Department and the Nashville Downtown Partnership through the end of 2021. The park is now under in-house management and continues to thrive.
